About five years ago, I was lying in bed with no energy to get out. I loss interest in the activities that I enjoyed. Worst, I felt empty, sad and lost. Some people describe it as being stuck.
It was so overwhelming; I could barely function. One day, I decided to call my doctor who diagnosed me with anxiety and depression. Taking that first step helped me to realize that I was not alone. It was also the beginning of my journey to rediscover myself.
It’s important to know that women between the ages of 40-55 have been found to be at higher risk for depression. Some of the factors that contribute to depression in women are menopause, changes in family dynamics such as death, separation/divorce, and job loss.
If you are a middle-aged woman and think you may be experiencing signs of anxiety or depression, I encourage you to take that first step by making an appointment with your primary physician.
Next, get yourself on a good self-care routine to help you feel better and maintain a balanced life. Don’t know where to start? Contact me and I will give you the guidance and support you need to get started.
